Okay, I've tried to synthesize all the info you-all have given me, and it looks like my skinny over-the-fridge cabinet had better be a 15" x 36" fridge-top cut down to 12" x 36" with a 12" x 36" drawer front for the door. Buying those pieces won't get me any Ferrari hinges, but I really would like to have that kind of opening mechanism. Will someone please look at the link below and tell me if that hinge will work?
Anyone else reading, do you know what to call the overhead cabinet hinges IKEA puts out? Ferrari is the brand, so searching tht doesn't help. If we knew what type of hinge it was, Google would be a lot friendlier.

I wondered about that, but hadn't checked. So, let me get this straight: you get the hinges with the cabinet, not the doors? I'd 'decided' on my own, which is dangerous, that you had to buy the whole thing, cabinet and doors to get the hinges. If it's just one or the other, that will be easier than trying to figure out what will work from another source.
I still have to deal with retrofitting a door hinge on a drawer front, but we'll do this one step at a time. If I know what to buy in

You can purchase the Ferrari hinges separately--in person, in customer service. You can get just about any spare part there.

Was told to keep my receipt in case of breakage. The guy helping me said he hasn't seen any returns on the hinges but another IKEAn in the back suggested hanging on to the recipet just in case.
Thanks, Dulci. I appreciate your answer. Buying the hinges separately may have been a one time/one place event. I need the too big cabinet, anyway, so I guess I'll be set up with hinges. Then I'll be taking my husband to some place nice for dinner in SLC, so I can break it to him that the drawer front we'll be using isn't drilled for them.
I'm usually the putter-together-er, but I don't know about this one. Lots of questions to come, I'm sure.
