I have all the drawers, doors ,and fittings for slide out config for two 15" wide cabinets but I am stuck with a 30" wide pantry. I have some ideas on how to approach this, but thought I would throw this out for sugestions
Is there any reason you don't want to just get 2 15 inch pantries and put them next to each other?
If that really isn't an option, I'd go buy 1 15" pantry, cannibalize the two sides of it, trim them to fit inside your 30" pantry, screw them together, and attach them to the top and bottom of your cabinet. That would be the easiest way to get the "divider" that you need. You might even be able to buy the two sides from AS IS. If you cut them in the right spots top and bottom, the holes will even be in the right spots.
Thanks for your reply, I have the 30" cabinet I bought as is and can not return it. I may well end up buying the two 15 " cabinets but have no use for the 30" and would like to utilize it if possible................however if it gets to be too much work I may be further ahead to write it off
Can you exchange the fittings for the 30" ones instead? I don't think there are Rationell drawer fronts for the 30" but it might be easier to fabricate those than to redo the cabinet.
Eva,
Why not simply use the Rationel from a 30" base cab? That's what we did under our oven. Ikea doesn't sell the fronts separately, but if you're willing to pay for the whole kit, you can do OK.
Al, I think Kristin's idea WRT the "sides" for inside of your 30" is a good one. But, can we take a step back for a momen? What exactly are you using inside the pantry? In other words, are you going with a pull-out organizer, drawers, pull-out shelves, etc.? The reason I ask is, depending on what you're using, you may be able to get away with merely mounting on one side or the other of the 30", without needing to have a divider. If you're going with drawers or sliding shelves, then that's another story.
eva is right, the 30" pull out drawer mod is easier than creating the divider you'd need. I recently had to create a similar divider inside a base cabinet and it was a nightmare... course, i was doing it with the cabinet installed and the counter already on it, but regardless, it was ugly.
i vote for either buying the 2@15 or getting the 30" fittings.
you can always use the 30" pantry for extra storage in the garage or another room if you have need.
Thanks for the advice as I said I have the doors and drawers(from another project) they are used and fit 15" pantry slide out so I can not take them back. So I have two options only modify the 30 or buy two 15" pantry units. I had in mind to do as suggested and install a divider. But for the sake of a few bucks I think I will splash out on the 2 15" cabinets and do it right
......................for sale one 80X30 cabinet!!! no, really I am sure I can use it somewhere else
