Is there a way to put a microwave in the 30" single wall oven cabinet unit without it being a built-in microwave? We're not huge microwavers so I don't really want to spend a lot of money on a microwave - we'd just like something small to warm things. BUT I don't really want the microwave on the counter or in a microwave cabinet. I'd like to be able to hide it behind cabinet doors.
Yes, absolutely. The doors, drawers, shelves, etc. are sold as separate items from the cabinet box, so you can mix and match to make the combination you'd like. This can be done in a 24"W pantry as well.
For a non-built-in microwave you'd want to leave an open space (not close it in with trim) so it can vent properly. You can fill in the remaining space with drawers and doors above and below. Here's a listing of some possible combinations for the 88"H Pantry cabinet. 88" Pantry Configuration Diagrams The 30"W tall oven cabinet uses the same box as the 30"W tall pantry cabinet. The only difference is the fittings and fronts. I really like this so you can have the microwave at just the right height for your personal preference.
I just saw your mention of hiding it behind cabinet doors. You may be able to just put it in a tall pantry cabinet on a shelf, then leave the doors open when it's in use.
Horizontal doors won't work, as what they really are is the regular door turned on its side ... which is taller than 30".
That said, there are 15"x15" (nominal) doors ... so a pair would work. The remaining would mean an additional shallow drawer (6-1/4" tall) + filler.

Yes, the 15"H x 30"W horizontal door is really the 15"W x 30"H regular door turned on its side and is actually more like 30 3/8". The horzontal cabinet is specially sized for this and the lift-up hinges come with the cabinet box itself. Would require *lots* of complex modifications to make that work.
I think this setup would work in the 30"W cabinet (from the top):
24"H pair of doors
15"H pair of doors
~30.25" opening for built-in wall oven with trim
6.25"H x 30"W drawer (usually sold with the oven cabinet)
12.5"H drawer (drawerfront sold only in a pack with the 11.25"H drawer and two 15"W x 6.25"H drawers)
Assuming ~4.5" legs/toekick that would put your oven starting at ~23.25" off the floor and your microwave base at ~53.5" off the floor.
If your oven and it's included trim fill out the 30"W of the cabinet then you can use a 30"W cover panel or 30"W drawerfront cut to the right height for fill-in trim. If your required oven opening is a little narrower, there is the oven panel which is like a huge flat door. You'd cut out the opening in the middle for the oven.
Do wall ovens usually come with a trim kit included? I'm not sure if ours does. It is 26.75" wide (originally I ordered the 30" which is 29.75" wide and realized it won't work in the 30" cabinet) and 28.25" high.
This should work, right?
If I have to purchase the 11.25" drawer that I won't need, can I just cut that down for filler? Would that be less expensive than buying a cover panel?
Some wall ovens have some trim, you'd have to check your particular model.
Depending on the doorstyle and the amount of filler needed, you can use the extra deep drawerfront for that. If you have other 15"W shallow drawers in your plan you can use these (from the 4pk) there and delete the others from your order. (that sounds goofy to me, I hope you can understand what I mean.)
