I have searched this site for over an hour trying to find this answer without asking it myself and making someone repeat the answer. Unfortunately, I haven't found an answer so I apologize upfront if there is one out there that I missed!
We are finally back at the kitchen but have a lot of changes to our layout. One being the range hood and microwave. If possible, we would like to use our current microwave and put it in a base cabinet. I just found out it can be used as a built-in with an optional trim kit. I don't have the space or room to put a 24" high cabinet in so I would like to use a base cabinet.
The 24" oven base cabinet is the closest one to what I need but the cut-out for the oven is so big. The dimensions I need are (these are the outside dimensions of the trim kit): H
19 7/8 x
W
23 1/2"
It looks like the opening is about 24" x 24" which would leave about 4" of height space. There is a 6" drawer under the opening. Can this cabinet be modified for a 10" space under the built-in microwave? Does Ikea make 10" x 24" drawers?
Any other suggestions? Thanks!
W definition
W is a wall cabinet designation, as in W18, can be a stand-in for Wide, or when followed by a / stands for With.
H definition
H can be a stand-in for Height or when followed by *** can have an entirely different meaning.

Reason: I shouldn't post when ineberated!
The dimensions of the trim is the overall space I need... at least that is my impression of the PDF I found. The microwave dimensions are:
19 1/2" x 14" x 20 5/8".
What are the dimension of the opening?
So, I could take the oven cabinet and adjust the shelf about 4" higher. Then buy a 10 1/4" drawer (in a two pack?). Is that something that sound doable?
I haven't got anything to

The deep drawer fronts are 11.25" and 12.5" high - too much for the space you have available after installing the trim kit (approx 10.375")...I would install the microwave in the regular 24" base (note: the 24" oven base cabinet is no different than the regular cabinet), add the shallow drawer and cut another 24" drawer front as filler (approx. 4").
There is another possibility to fill the 10" space: IKEA introduced 24 x 4" drawer fronts to fit under the built-in 24" oven...one of these and a 6" front may be a more elegant (& useful) solution.
I havn't seen the new front, so I'm not sure of the exact height.
