Ok. Stay with me here. This is going to go where no IKEAN has gone before.
I want a floating nightstand with 1 drawer.
Is there a way to take a drawer from a base cab and modify it to fit in an upper cab (the narrower the better - I don't have room for a 30" wide nightstand)?
It seems like the rails would have to be hack sawed and I'm not sure how that would affect the motion part of Blumotion.
Any and all ideas are welcomed.

floating nightstands! Just have to say I love that idea, with or withouta drawer. I saw a pic once of a headboard made from cabinet doors and I'm thinking it would be great to do both together.
If you manage it, please post pics!! or even an explanation. That's exactly the type of nightstand I want. DH is leaning towards an IKEA bed that comes in medium brown, so I assume we could do this with Adel med brown.
I can't remember when those shallow drawers are supposed to be available, but I'll keep checking here for all the latest news so I can experiment as soon as possible.
I just know there is a way to make this nightstand. Considering my headboard is 3 IKEA cube walls (the white ones w/the holes. 3 together are the perfect width for our CA King.) that are joined together and lit from the inside w/rope light (my DH is a genious!), it would be perfect to have2 otherIKEA frankenstein pieces of furniture flanking it.

Now you've got me curious! I'm not wild about the bed DH likes, so I looked over at ikea.com for a cube wall. Do you mean the HOL storage cube? The rope lights inside sound neat.
I can't find them online, but we bought cubicle walls (think Dilbert cubicles, the kind I'm sitting in right now at work). They came in 2 heights and 2 widths. When the IKEA was moving from one location to another in Orange County they sort of had a blowout sale. The wall partitians we got were normally $25 each, but they were dumping them for $1. The hardware to connect them cost something like $13.
DH carefully cut open the back, which was basically the same as the front - evenly spaced holes - and attached 3 rope lights connected together. Then he put the back back on and put in a switch. It took a few hours, but the effect is great. A subtle blue hue that really sets the mood.

It does sound beautiful - and talk about a bargain. I'd like to see it. Feel like posting a pic? Then Susan can add a new category to the forum front page - "Other Cool Stuff Made From IKEA Components"
