Thank you so much for the helpful replies! I have looked at Jenswrens' pictorial which is awesome and have checked out Pickles' farm sink, as well. I have a few questions regarding their installations and have been thinking about PMing them. Is that ok to do? Torrus said: "If the cabinet is 36" wide then you will need a 3x8' cover panel in order to have finished sides...I would template the panel (masonite) to fit snug against the sink and then transfer the cutout to the piece of panel. Cut the panel a bit larger than required and then belt-sand to fit
, also seal the cut with urethane. "
Ok - not sure I get everything you mentioned.
1) I don't quite understand why I need to have "finished" sides. The sink base cab will be inbetween a 15" trash pullout and a dishwasher. Do you think I should use the 3'x8' cover panel for support?
2) Are you saying to buy a sheet of masonite (I assume I can get this at home depot or hardware store) - and use that to make a template? Sorry -- don't mean to be dense here - I'm very detail oriented and sometimes I get stuck on one detail but I just want to make sure that I fully understand. Will I splinter or otherwise damage the panel if I use a belt sander on the edges? What grit should I use? Any particular technique in doing this? Yes, I will be working with a contractor but will be doing a lot of stuff myself and would like to know.
If it helps -- I will try to upload some images of my layout for you to see. BTW - Susan - thank you for fixing the ridiculous image that I uploaded. I'll have to tinker around and figure out how to make the thumbnails. I tried to crop it on tinypic and then copy the code here but it, obviously, didn't work.
Thank you!
