Here is the 36 inch cabinet, not cut down, to see how it looks. I think the gap at the edge is too big (3 inches). DH says no. (The white space at teh right edge is primer--it is where the old cab was). Using the white 39 inch cab would mean cutting down the top-hinged door and DH says that would look chopped up. I have to agree since the Nexus door has a trim band around it.

I am now in a panic because I got the call today saying there is a strong chance I will move in July. We're going to Ikea this weekend (last chance to return pieces we didn't need) and get something for this space. DH says making a shelf out of the cover panel would also look "homemade" and he prefers a ready-made cabinet.

Thoughts? ideas? Helpppppp!

A three inch filler is not unusual - you could center the cabinet in the opening and split the filler (1.5" each side) but generally, once the filler and doors are in place it won't be noticable.
