extend depth of toe-kick to cover gap in flooring

Hello! So we tore out our old cabinets (they were off-gassing something fierce) and are pretty darn stoked about our new ikea kitchen. We're at the adjust the drawers and put on the toe kick stage, and a fear that has been hiding in the shadows of my mind has now emerged: the toekick and clip doesn't extend far enough out to cover where the flooring ends (laminate flooring was put in around the old cabinets). We're not going to replace the entire kitchen flooring, so I was thinking of just attaching the strip of particle board that comes with the toe kicks onto the back of the kicks, and using that to attach on to the clips ( akurum ). With a kerf cut into the back of said particle board. Any thoughts?

thanks for any feedback!

If you have to cut off any of your toe-kick for length, you could also cut some small pieces of the scrap to glue/screw to the actual toe kick and mount it that way. The cut for the toe kick bracket thing would fit perfectly too.
