hi...i have a 49" blind corner unit that i am going to have to cut down to about 42"(max). the problem is that the door and drawer that come with this unit are both 21" and are not going to fit once i cut the cabinet base down because the blind part of it butts up to the sink cabinet and the resulting gap will be about 19". so, before i cut down the cabinet..my question is...can i cut down the drawer and door to fit the open space, or should i cut the cabinet in a way so that i can order a stock size door and drawer to fit the opening? i would love to be able to cut down the drawer and door since i live far away from the nearest ikea and this style is not in stock and took a month to get in when i ordered. but i also don't want it to look crappy either so..any advice? thanks, mary

I say just forget about modifying the Ikea 49" blind corner and use a 36" cabinet and the Lee Valley blind corner unit instead.

you could use an 18" door and some filler.
but if you're wanting to cut, you've got a good door for it. you just have to be careful, score the line you want to cut so the veneer slices nicely. and then you'll have the edge to worry about. if you are a perfectionist, you will want to just go with the 18" door.
