If, for example, I wanted to turn a 15" three drawer into one of the clever trash pull-outs, would it be hard to do after the cabinet had already been installed? Or is it pretty straightforward?

(I have yet to actually instal an Ikea cabinet so I'm thinking theoretically - maybe this is completely obvious once you've assembled one).

In fact now that I think about it - and forgive me if this is already out there - a FAQ listing mods that must or should ideally be done *before* installation would be fantastic, eh?

Just use the 15"pullout base cab.and don't install the upper pullout shelves that come with it, and you have a perfect trash pullout cab.

Modding the insides are really easy after the fact. It's also easy to buy new door and change drawers to a pullout . I took down a solid door and shelves in one cabinet after the fact and put in glass shelves and an askvist door. As long as you have not drilled into the door, it is returnable. Ikea is great about that! I don't know if other kitchen companies will let you buy whatever you want and return it within 90 days.
