Hi, I have been lurking for a while, I want to thank you for this forum. I have found this site to be a great help to mein many cases.

I am doing theentire kitchen myself. My wife actually cooked today, first home cooked meal in2 weeks. I have no clue what I am doing in the kitchen, I'm a car guy....

Anyway, here in my current problem. I have the new LG barn door fridge. There are 2 large hinges on top that are right in the way of the upper cabinet doors. They would not even open 2 inches.

My question is, if they can't open as normal. Is it possible to convert the doors to hinge like a horizontal style cabinet.

Thanks,

Lionel

Heres aquick pic of the good side. Waddya think? be nice....

Hi, Lionel, and welcome!

Your kitchen looks great, Adel Med Brown is so rich looking. Love the Double Dom and Hjuvik. What are your appliances we see there?

I don't think you can convert the hinges, but do you have room to move the cabinet up on the wall so it clears the hinges? Or poerhaps get a smaller cabinet?

If your fridge cabinet is 24" high you can cut it down to 18" and use the 18" high doors, then place a filler across the bottom to fill the gap.

Have you tried removing the hinge covers to see if that helps? We had to do that to get our fridge to work with the 24" tall cabinet.

Thanks, I thought about moving the cabs up a bit, but then don'tI need to worry about the cover panel for the side of the fridge not reaching the toekick. Its also kinda close to the80" pantry, I don't want the hieght difference to be noticable. I might be able to make it work. I am gonna try to remove the hinge covers too. Thanks guys!

oh, the appliances my wife chose were the LG dishwasher, LG barn fridge and the DCS stove.

heres a pic of the side, I set up a spot for some seated kitchen work. My wife loves to bake, this will be perfect for that back breaking cake decorating.

oh no!!! maybe i should raise all the upper cabinets flush to the ceiling!!!!!!

i was originally gonna do this but i thought i couldn't because of the pantry size. choice was 80 or 88.

how do i solve the issue with 80" pantry and 80" side panel?

Looks like you have 30" upper cabinets - which would suggest a 15" fridge cab.

The easiest sol'n would be to raise the fridge cabinet to clear the hinges and use 88" cover panels (if these are to go to the floor) rather than the 80" (cutting down to size, of course).

Perhaps you could send a picture of the fridge area
