Sorry if I put this in the wrong sections, mods if I did please move it for me

This is to expand on what I was talking about in the "much maligned sink base" thread. I chose to put my drawers on the bottom of my sink base. I jerry-rigged in the partition and mounted my drawer hardware, i flipped the drawer fronts for clearance and mounted the doors above. i put a shelf above the drawers so i could still store stuff. I love it and it works great for us. Not to mention everyone talks about it when they come in and we have great sink/fixtures access

As you'll notice in the closed picture I put my sink next to a 15in drawer bank, but i wanted 4 drawers so i bought the stat 3 drawer pack, saved the biggest one for possible future use (you never know) and used 2 additional fronts i had from the 30in drawer pantry. since i had drawers at the bottom of the sink i mounted a shallow drawer at the bottom of the 15in bank. it works well for us since our kids use it as storage and the stat drawer now lines up with the doors.

Sorry for the mess. i wasn't planning on taking pics today. Plus I was midway through the reno when i had to completely stop for a 5 week visit from my inlaws

I'll be sure to post pics when i am finished, but i wanted to get these two out today...

We're looking to do that with our future reno. The only thing we'd like to change is to have a single 30" wide drawer. Is this even an option? Does IKEA have a 30" drawer (maybe on a wall oven base or something). We'd also go ahead and put a shelf above the drawer to have useable under sink storage.

If there is no such thing, our other thought was that we could have a 30" faceplate mounted to two drawers. When you pull open the single faceplate, two distinct drawers would open simultaneously. Are there any problems with that setup?

Thanks,

Josh

Josh, you're in luck. There is a 30" drawer; as you suspected, it's from the oven cabinet.

Brilliant! I immediately rushed over with measuring tape in hand, to see if this would work with the Domsjo apron front sink. Sadly, I see no way, but this should be a great inspiration for others.

The doors under the Domsjo sink are 18x24 - with 6" high drawers you could use the 18x18 doors

Roland, I thought fleetingly about those 18" doors. But I was thwarted because the drawer front is slightly more than 6". On second thought, though, I guess I could just have the drawer front go slightly lower - it is adjacent to a corner and a dishwasher, so it wouldn't be a glaring distinction. Hmmmm...

I'll go out on limb and say that the 18" door is only 17 3/4" high (not having one to measure) - will double checkPlus, the base cabinet is 30 3/16" high.
