Hi,

I'm writing with a problem with the Pax corner unit. We've set up multiple pax wardrobe systems lined up across one of the back walls of a room. We purchased the corner unit as well as an additional unit to put on the wall perpedicular to the back wall (intending to have an L shaped closet). The problem is that the depth of the corner unit is different than the regular Pax wardrobe so the corner and the regular don't match up. That means they are not flush. This doesn't make any sense to us. We've checked the ikea website and it seems all the corner units are the same depth. Has anyone else run into this problem?

You mean the corner unit is shallower than a regular unit placed next to it? I think it's designed that way because of the doors. If they made it deeper it would require a special size door for the main part, and IKEA doesn't like to do special size doors for unique applications.

I suppose you could use furring behind the corner to pull the whole thing out so it would be flush with the adjacent side. You'd lose a few inches on the first side in width, but it would all line up.

This issue is actually addressed in the PAX catalog, page 9, "PAX corner unit."

"Note: the corner unit that is added on to the combination requires 3 7/8" (10cm) of space behind the section to get an aligned front."

My husband is going to cut 2x4's to that length and place between the wall and the back of the cabinet to ensure a nice fit. That way, you aren't fussing with the fronts, only appropriately placing them away from the wall.

Anybody know if you can get the PAX "catalog" online so Jennifer can see the drawing??

Re: Pax corner unit - width

The width of the corner unit is 20-1/2". I need 1-1/2 inches less. Assuming I don't need to put doors on, how practical is it to remove a strip from the unfinished side of the corner unit (the side that will butt up against the front of the other unit forming the corner)
