Is the intent that the face of the wooden block line up with the face of the rest of the cabinet frame? I am thinking yes? But I can't tell, unless I am reading the directions wrong. Thanks...

Yes, that's the intent. I'll make a note to update that FAQ when I have a minute. Thanks for pointing out that that was/is unclear.

If you can get through that mod, you can do anything! Good luck!

Thanks for the clarification Susan - I looked again, and I see now in one of the photos that the block does line up, so it's my oversight. What I did wrong was, I pre-drilled holes at the otherside of the top cabinet piece to install the metal thing backwards, and the block was ending up farther back.I'll line the block up first and drill new holes. Thanks again!

Yes, that definitely qualifies you for superstar status!!

That was the single worst part of my entire kitchen.

OK, I'm ready for my tip-out tray merit badge now:

Still need to stain the center block to match the edgebanding and make some minor adjustments.

I could not have done this without one of those magnetic screwdrivers that holds the screw. And also, not without help from both of you! Thanks!

I think this is the only thing I did differently: the center block seemed a little wobbly, due to the flexibility in that steel piece, so I screwed it in from the top. Hopefully this ends up making it more stable, while not being in the way of something else!

The tip-outs still seem a little... maybe wobbly is the word here too, but I guess those spring-loaded hinges work independently, so this might be as good as it gets.
