Question High cb double oven+drawer/ 2 doors Modification

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone has modified the 88' version of the double oven cabinet to allow either a bigger drawer or a second drawer at the bottom? If so, do you have pictures of your modification that you would be willing to share and how has it worked out for you?

Our thought was to move the shelf that holds the oven up approximately 8" since we have a lot of dead space between the top of the oven and the start of the 2 top doors.

Thanks in advance for any help and/or answers you may have!

Best,

~E

You have 64" to work with - if you subtract the oven height plus 2" (top and bottom clearance) the rest can be used for drawers.

E,
I am pretty sure one of the kitchens that used Tidaholm did that. Hmm, I can't tell what they used for the bottom drawer under the double ovens, but here is the thread:

The same person wrote a mod about putting a lot of drawers into a tall cabinet - that may help with placement of the rails for the drawer:

I'm planning to do a similar thing - put a deep drawer under a wall over, then cut back the upper part of the cabinet to wall cabinet depth, put in a shelf for a microwave and doors above. I want the top of the wall over to be 6-9" above counter height and the microware not as high as using a regular microwave cabinet would place it, so this seems the easiest way.

We mod'd an 88" to accomodate oven, micro and deep drawer

We are still fidgeting with it but we may even be able to get another drawer (shallow) in there as well.

We also added an extra drawer in the pullout pantry so we have six drawers total.

I love playing with IKEA cabs...they are so amenable to mods.
