Pull-out above fridge! Or...?

I just saw pics on THS of a modification where the homeowner added drawers at the bottom of the 18" doors and made them both pull-outs. So clever!

despite the fact that I find the people at THS intimidating pros, I think this is a mod even I could do!

BTW, what kind of mods have some of my IKEAfan collegues done?

I am struggling with the space and would like some alternatives

Thanks!

Wine anyone?

There have been some really creative over Fridge mods... I don't have the exact shot of the wineglass mod I'm thinking of/looking for ( I think it's Stacylu's), but here's one of the setup for it. The glasses hang down into the space you see in this shot:

As another wine related choice there's always this:

I need to trackdown the rest of the wine glass shots and drop them in the gallery, they're a lot easier to find in there.

Thanks James (again)!

We are already going to do the wine cubby mod.
This, of course, is why the cabinet is so difficult. It is so high!

Ha!

Stacy... Hope you don't mind me putting it in the gallery under your name?
It's one of my favorite mods... Very creative!

Not at all - I thought I'd already put it over there...

And someday I'll have it finished! I keep bugging my hubby about it but so far, no luck!

wine cubbies above refrigerator

With this setup, I would think that the heat from the back of the fridge would ruin the wine. Is this not the case?

Hey, petonza, I am "firstwife" at THS. If it was it was my modification you saw, it is REALLY easy to do. Almost all of my cabs are pullouts or standard drawers. I only have 3 wall cabs with hinged doors. Let me know if I can answer any questions. This site is SO much friendlier than THS, IMHO.

I am considering using the 153 degree hinges and doing a pull out drawer or two for my 36" cab over the fridge.

Here's ours!

We used the 153 hinges (I think) -- when I say "we," I mean THE BUILDERS.

They are lift-up cubbies:
