reinforce Vika Blecket Drawing table top for monitor arm

Hi guys, first post here. I have had a Vika Blecket table top for some time now, and have been using a gas cylinder arm with it for some time now (and a very heavy tablet monitor).

I have been mounting the arm on the edge with a slat of plywood on either side of the desk for protection, and over the course of about a year the spot will depress, at which point I usually move the monitor and rearrange my workspace anyway.

Can anyone think of a better way to redistribute the weight so that I'm not completely ruining my beautiful desk? I could drill into it, but I'm not sure the middle is as strong as the edges (as the monitor arm, an Innovative 7500 Deluxe flat panel radial arm is versatile in how it is mounted.)

Re: reinforce Vika Blecket Drawing table top for monitor arm

I don't have an answer for you, but I do have a bump on this, as I've been trying to find a way to get a computer setup available on my vika blecket when it's tilted.
My first instinct was to mount an monitor arm to the desk, but I then started thinking about mounting it to the wall behind the desk. That's maybe less appealing than mounting to the desk, though.
Finally, I've thought about getting a Micke drawer unit to mount a monitor arm to. That way, I can put my laptop in the top drawer and just run all of the cables out the back of the unit.

Kinda needed someone else's two cents regarding using a computer on a tilted Vika Blecket...
