Staining Alve Cabinet from Antique to a darker color

I am currently redoing my entire living room and for the 1st time in my life, it is not with IKEA furniture. My whole apartment has always been IKEA and things matched easily.

But I am really attached to my ALVE cabinet that secretly hides my printer and other desk essentials yet appears to be a piece of my living room furniture. I have it under my window sill and accessorize it with picture frames and other decor on top of it. So I really don't want to get rid of it.

However my new furniture is a darker wood so I would like to restain my ALVE unit to match. I know since this unit is real wood it can be done. But would like some info on how to so as I am not very good at this sort of stuff.

ALVE current color:

color I am trying to match:

Thanks!

Welcome to IKEAFANS, wiseone.

Restaining a piece of IKEA furniture has been discussed on a number of threads here in the past. You can do a search of that topic, starting with the links at the bottom of this page. Also, you could consult the paint department at your local hardware or big box store.

Thanks, I actually did a search before I posted this thread and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.
