I was at the IKEA
Carson
store today and here is the photo of the modified 24" pantry. It shows the white cabinet inside but that could be easily addressed with a Micro-trim kit. I have a photo of the cabinet open also if anyone needs it.

This could also be done for the 88" high pantry.

Liz,
Does the door under the microwave open down? And does it stay up enough to be a surface? That is a neat modification, though I think I would put drawers underneath.

The door under the micro opens from left to right. I was thinking that drawers would be better too. Do you have any ideas? (or a diagram would be even better). I'm just not too familiar with the parts available for modification. In the lower section I would like to put a 14"x14"x13"high dog food container and the dog bowls. Other than that, just general pantry type storage with drawers. Thanks for the help.

With that configuration, I'd probably put a shallow drawer - maybe put a tray on top that would be a fire-proof surface so you could set dishes from the microwave or slide things out of the oven that is to the right.
ADA standards recommend having a surface like that, but they generally have a counter next to a wall oven set at the appropriate height. They also recommend side opening ovens like the Frigidaire that I bought last week.

This one is only an 80" high, how could I use it with an 88"? I would like to use as many pull out drawers as possible (not baskets). Using the 153 degree hinges I know.

Liz,
There is some fudge room in the space where the microwave is - they even have a very short space underneath it, it looks like.
Whether you want pull out drawers rather than drawers with fronts on them, it is just a matter of playing with the sizes of the available doors and drawers. For instance, you could have 30" tall doors at the bottom for your dog feeding station, an 11.25" tall drawer, and 18" shelf for the microwave and 39" doors above. Or put the dog dishes in the drawer at the bottom and move the 30" doors up.
Get the AKURUM Doors and Drawer Fronts Pricelist for 2006 but remember that there have bee some sizes added and some not included in this list, especially for the 24" wide cabinets. For those see the thread 24" cabinet combos though some store and
Ikea Direct
do not have some of the new doors in their systems yet. But it's worth seeing what will be available for figuring out some of the modifications.
