Newbie needs mod help, bath dressing table with drawer and chair.
I'm putting in two 19" deep Pax Black Brown wardrobes in my large dressing room and wanted to make a vanity/desk beside them where I can sit. I'd like a 32 ish" counterheight with a drawer below between two drawer base units. I have about 6 feet of room to fill. Any ideas what I should do to get that lower height with a drawer? I'm waiting for the Nexus Black Brown to show up.
Thanks.

Hi Kathy and welcome to the forum!
I just logged back in so I'm sort of eyeballing everything. I'll come back in a little bit and see if I can help. In the meantime I've moved this over to modifications, so that the brain trust over here can weigh in

Hi Kathy, and welcome!
If you wanted to use kitchen drawer bases 30"H, you could set them on cover panels instead of legs and with countertop it would be about 32." You need to raise them up off the floor a little for the drawers to clear and the cover panel is finished nicely.
Adding a drawer in the kneespace is beyond my abilities though.

I'm doing something similar for my desk area in the kitchen. I'm using 30" base cabs cut down to a height of 24". Cut the bottom off and use drywall screws to put the bottom back on that way all the holes are preserved and you can add drawers from the top down (a tip from another Ikeafan). I will have a shallow drawer at the top and then an 18" door at the bottom giving a height of 24". Add a toekick and 1-2" counetr and your height will be about 29-31 ". Hope that helps. Tumbilli

Thanks, but I'm trying to make it into a desk/dressing table to sit at and push my chair under it when not being used.
Does anyone know if I can attach slides to the outside of two cabinets and put a drawer on them? Then I could bracket a countertop over the drawer. Would this work?
And how do I address the white color frame when I'm using Black/brown?
Re: Newbie needs mod help, bath dressing table with drawer and chair.
yes, you can attach stuff into the side, if your dimensions are done right you could even attach a drawer with glides in that area (you could build out a frame from cover panel in order to hide the bottom, if you wanted.)
I would address the white sides by mounting cover panel to conceal it.

does that make sense?
Yes, that's exactly what I needed to find out. I think I'll do this and post a picture. Someday...when Nexus Black Brown comes in. Thanks so much.
Re: Newbie needs mod help, bath dressing table with drawer and chair.
no problem. sorry i've been occupied by real life that i couldn't come help more before... you have many options, there is even a 30" shallow drawer which should be enough space for most folks....
when the time comes we can help you come up with something concrete if need be
