AKURUM Base Cab as an office workstation File pedistool?
Hello everyone! I am new to this great community and have a quick question (I hope!), I have a client that wants to use 4
AKURUM
15" Base cabinets
w
/ 4 drawers as workstation pedistools with PRAGEL countertops as the work surface. These will be lined up on one wall as 3 workstations. She want to lower the cabinets as far as possible so the bottom drawers just miss the floor, so to lower the work surface as close as possible to a standard desk height. If I just use the square base piece of the AKURUM leg supports and NOT use the actual leg insert, will this work? How high would it be with just these?
Suggestions please??
Thanks!
Akurum definition
Akurum is the North American equivalent of FAKTUM; that is the fitted, frameless, component kitchen cabinet line, which when paired with door and drawer fronts as well as interior accessories makes up the full kitchen cabinet system.
W definition
W is a wall cabinet designation, as in W18, can be a stand-in for Wide, or when followed by a / stands for With.

Not sure on the blocks ... I just used a 1/2" thick board for one cabinet we have sitting on thick pile carpet. That was enough for the doors to clear.
That said, you sure the client is going to be OK with a minimum work height of 32-3/8" to top of surface? (30-3/8" cabinet + 1/2" block + 1-1/2" countertop)

You might also want to find out what they plan to put in those 15" drawers. I have a 15" base cabinet as one side of a desk and regular size manila file folders don't fit in there.

As I'm in the engineering field and do spend time on a drafting board from time to time, I do not find drafting chairs to all that ergonomical, no matter how much one can adjust the seat and back. The big reason is that for most people, their feet would be dangling, which then puts additional pressure on the thighs and knees. Leave it lower, get regular chairs, and get some height/tilt adjustable footrests.
For someone vertically impaired like me, that's also why my desks are either custom built or Galant series. The extra inch does make a difference.

i second jgsearls query and can also say definitively that yes, you can use just the leg blocks (i've also used something as low as 1/4" for door clearance, but the flooring is the defining factor on that!)

Or you can mount the desk surface between the cabinets, and have the cabinets rise up a bit above the surface with another small countertop on it. Just mount it on cleats attached to the sides of the cabinets. Sometimes it's nice to have something a little higher to put your monitor or coffee cup on,

What I did was cut the top 6" off the 15" base and put it on the legs (or plinth) at the usual height. The result is almost perfect desk height. Just buy one less interior drawer per base unit, but you end up with an extra drawer front (6.25"

) that you can't do anything with.
Good luck.

H can be a stand-in for Height or when followed by *** can have an entirely different meaning.
