How can we make a broom closet out of a 30" pantry?
Help please. We want to have a regular ordinary broom closet, but the instructions for pantries require 2 stationary shelves for additional support. We bought the fancy expensive ($175 Can) side mounted pull-out plus a bunch of Home Depot organizing things - like an ironing board/iron holder, a broom/dustpan holder etc.
Can we put a stationary shelf a little lower on the bottom and a little higher at the top than the instructions say? We need at least 1 broom or ironing board height free of shelves. Plus there is the issue of the expensive side mounted pull-out.

yes, you can put your stationary shelves higher and lower.
what expensive pull outs? after market shelves? if so, you can actually make 30" pull out shelves from ikea drawer boxes and a little ingenuity

This expensive pull-out!
This pull-out basket rack thingy was $175 Can. It seems a lot, but it should work great and it seems very sturdy.
This picture on the instructions show 2 shelves - that is why I was confused. That top photo I just found to show the pull-out thingy has the configuration I want.

ahhh, ok, always forget about that pullout
and i see why the confusion on shelves, there is even a drawing in one of the instructions that makes it look like you're supposed to mount one of the static shelves at like 10inches from the cabinet floor.
as i'm fond of saying, that's why we're here: to help out where ikea falls short.

The instructions have a diagram that puts a shelf 12 holes from the top and 19 from the bottom. But you guys say this is optional as long as there is at least one permanent shelf somewhere.....

I love it too - but I'm sure anyone who has looked at a draft order for a kitchen for the first time can definitely relate to the 'little confused guy' drawing. Once you've done it once or twice, you learn to read Ikea-speak more fluently.

i don't even think like a normal human anymore... guess you could say i think like a draft order, just a bunch of random pieces which will fit together to create something
