expedit 5x5

First post here, so I hope this is in the right place.

We are thinking about buying the 5x5 Expedit for toy and general storage in our living room, but would like to remove a vertical and possibly cut into a horizontal to make room for a monitor and printer.

Does this sound possible/like a good idea? It would be in either the top left or right hand corner.

Thanks,
Dida

Re: expedit 5x5

I think it will work. My SIL has an Expedit bookshelf that she's removed some of the verticals and horizontals to make room for odd-shaped things.

Re: expedit 5x5

For an upper row, no prob removing the verticals, as the thicker top can better transfer the weight across to the sides. Two wouldn't be an issue, three is passable.

For modifying the rows below, removing just one vertical on a row would work. Remove two, and it'll be passable if nothing heavy in the cubes above.

Horizontals can be cut, but there will be an exposed edge of the particle board substrate where it's cut.
