Actually, we don't know what the delivery details from the Brooklyn store are...and I doubt very much that the other IKEA stores would use a company that screws up 9 times out of 10, not to mention taking weeks to deliver an order.
I'm all for information and competition - but let's stick to facts.

Re: It's official...Brooklyn Opening Date
Does anybody know what the sales tax will be at the Red Hook Ikea? I know their home page isn't up yet. I am hoping that it will be the same as Ikea Elizabeth. I live in western Queens so the drive to Red Hook is around 11 miles with no tolls. This new store is going to be very very busy.

The reason why it is 3.5% at Elizabeth Ikea is because it is in a urban enterprise zone. We all know what kind of neighborhood Elizabeth is. It is going to be interesting to see if customers will still go to Elizabeth Ikea if the Red Hook store has the nyc sales tax of 8.375%.

Re: It's official...Brooklyn Opening Date
Did anyone see the prizes they are giving away? They have all these $1k gift cards and such. There's this game, it's pretty cute. I just found the site IKEA Brooklyn: Grand Opening Someone was asking about delivery details too. They have a page on that as well. I'm pretty psyched for the Water Taxi, I hear it's the best view of Lady Liberty and it's going to be free!!!!!

Re: It's official...Brooklyn Opening Date
Two of my coworkers just returned from the build up. From what I've seen, it's going to be really nice. Some of the rooms have windows, and the restaurant has a fantastic view of the Statue of Liberty. Awesome!

Re: It's official...Brooklyn Opening Date
There are articles in the NYTs and the NY Sun regarding the Ikea opening today, including prizes that will be given away. (One thing I remember is that sofas will be given to the first 35 people in line...now if they were offering to give a KITCHEN to the first 35 people in line, I'd be there.) I agree! It will definitely alter Red Hook!

delivery and assembly
EZ assembly is way off base. The store will be offering SAME DAY DELIVERY and NEXT DAY DELIVERY at very reasonable rates (about 80.00, no weight pieces charge) and ASSEMBLY.
