For those that may not know, Firefox 3 is a *much* more standards compliant browser than Internet Explorer. In my testing of the Beta releases of FF3 it was faster and rendered pages better. FF3 introduces some great new features and is much less memory intensive.

Just as a followup, I've been running FF3 today since this was posted, and not only was the install *very* fast, it also renders pages lightning quick. It makes Internet Explorer look positively lethargic .

OK, just installed FF3 - don't like the default buttons but hey that's minor and eventually somebody will come up with a theme I like.

But I am having a problem with no cursor showing in the regular editing box here. Plus, highlighting a section of text and linking it to a URL is not working, neither are regular keyboard editing tools, like END, DELETE or highlight and replace. Don't know if that is FF3 or if there was a change here since yesterday when I had no problems while using FF2.

Hmmm... Good point, I see what you mean. My testing on the next version of the site (on our testbed machine) doesn't have the cursor missing or problems with End, Home etc. Though I am seeing a problem with the link button on highlighted text.

I might be able to steal some bits from the next version to fix those problems before we're ready to upgrade everything though... I'll see what I can do.

The workaround is to use the plain text editor - click on the A thingy at the top right of the editor window. That changes some of the editing behavior but gives me a cursor and the ability to edit text.

I have not posted messages in other forums to see if there is a problem with other forum software or if it is just here.

Overall, I do like FF3 though and will not drop back to version 2.?.

FF3 managed to crash 3 times this evening! That did not happen with FF2, and , moreover I cannot insert or edit these posts before posting.

I have the same issues with posting and FF3. I do not have this problem at two other forums which are both vBulletin powered just as FYI.

Noted. Looks like we've gotten some validation errors that have crept in. Be a while since we went though and weeded them out, so it looks like we've got a night of page source combing to do tonight. Hopefully that'll sort out the problems with the editor. If not, it's still something that needs to be done and it will at least reduce the noise so we can find the real culprit.

Ok... I think we've got it fixed. Strange *strange* things happen in pages with missing tags.

It was pretty buried, but the good news is that we cleaned up a whole bunch of cascade xhtml validation errors in the process.

Anyway, please let me know if you're still seeing a problem using Firefox 3 on here?
