Then and Now

Welcome!

What follows are words and (hopefully) illustrative screenshots which should help you to find your way around here a bit. Think of it as a map. Or maybe not a map, but a travel guide.

Feel free to start new threads in this forum to ask questions, to point out things that are unclear or to ask for additional tutorials on the tricky bits. The tutorial threads themselves are closed to posting to keep them short and sweet.

Ok, now...on to the good stuff!

Top Toolbar vs. Nav Bar

This thread is still under construction -- much of the information is not yet available, but this thread will be updated frequently as I finish different sections of the FAQ 's.

Please note: These walk-throughs are skewed towards our registered members. No offense to our regular guests, but there's only so much time in the day. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask - I'd be happy to help.

Ok. Each thumbnail below shows where the options from the old forum software are in the new forum software. I'll go through each thumbnail from left to right give you the link to any additional information on each feature as we go.

Search: There is a thread on Search and Advanced Search with extensive information. Note that there are many more features available in Advanced Search than simply "Search this forum" or "Search by Member".

My Account: There is extensive information on setting up your Account on this thread. The next post in this thread will address additional account features and their locations here compared to where they were.

Members:
Information on the Members Page is here.

Calendar: The calendar is a place to keep track of upcoming and recurring events. More information is available here.

Help: There are FAQs (In addition to these threads) in the FAQ section. They are searchable and most answer more fundamental questions than those answered here.

Login/Private Message Information:
Login, last login date and time, your time zone specific clock and your Private Message totals are in this area. You can link directly to your Private Messages here. Find out more about Private Messages

Logout: In Internet Explorer, you will get a black and white screen like the one in the last thumbnail when you click on Logout - don't be alarmed...this is normal. You will also need to confirm that you want to log out.
