Re: What effect has IKEAFANS had on your IKEA Experience?

I only picked some because we were already going with Ikea kitchen cabinets but this site has made it easier to make some plans and convince the DH that this IS the best choice! If I didn't know about Ikea kitchens and found this site, I can say this site would have definitely made my decision.

Re: What effect has IKEAFANS had on your IKEA Experience?

Sorta. I have been an Ikea fan since our Stor store became Ikea. I seriously have some old-school Ikea stuff here, my favorite being a Billy bookcase from 1989 that is still in top shape!

But when we did our kitchen, we did it backwards, the granite first, thinking I wouldn't hate my cabinets after the granite went in, but that wasn't what happened. So instead at that point we refaced the cabinets. However, had we done it all at once we would have done an Ikea kitchen.

I do have a full-Ikea playroom (Expedit, Lack, Norby) and a full-Ikea craft room/office (Expedit, Markor). And both kids have some Ikea in their rooms. We did both their closets in Pax as well. We also put built-in cabinets in the laundry room (Kaselbo).

I posted 'A Lot', but should have put 'Some' after reading the descriptions. That said, the PDFs available here helped me 'A Lot'! Lifesavers, those things have been...

Re: What effect has IKEAFANS had on your IKEA Experience?

I LOVE IKEA FANS!!! She screams from the roof tops!!

I learned so much planning my Mom's kitchen, from the design to the installation....from the PDF instructions printed at 2am when panic had set in that dh had thrown out the instructions.

Even though we are still struggling with our kitchen addition I am on Ikea Fans site at least two or three times a day....making notes, seeing everyone’s questions and answers and completed kitchens.

I can see my new kitchen in my head even though we do not have the room sizes finalized and looking forward to getting to that project.

I am completely and totally kitchen obsessed...

Thank you Ikea Fans!!

Ikea-Orlando was love at first sight, even if the parking and traffic situation was somewhere beyond horrendous (Ikea opened before Christmas and it's next to a mall that was already a traffic disaster).

Ikeafans has vastly increased my confidence in working through kitchen design issues.

Re: What effect has IKEAFANS had on your IKEA Experience?

you're doing it again: nothing about kitchens in the title. happy as i may be about my ikea experience, this is not cool.

please insert "kitchen" between "IKEA" and "Experience".

thank you.

Gotcha... There was a bit of an unintentional disconnect there. "Kitchen" so inserted. .

Re: What effect has IKEAFANS had on your IKEA Kitchen Experience?

i guess i'm not understanding the complaint of "kitchen". sure, a lot of our members do kitchens (dare i say most?) but this isn't just a kitchen site and i don't really understand why anyone would feel the right to order James or Susan to modify any thread title. I know this is a friendly site, but that doesn't mean James should kowtow (james, i really hope you didn't change the title, just on principle alone)

Re: What effect has IKEAFANS had on your IKEA Kitchen Experience?

Heh. No... I don't do that.

I do try to be as fair-minded as I can though, and I try to put myself into the perspective of the new member as much as possible. With my "New Member" hat on, I happen to agree that there was a disconnect between the thread title and the Poll title. If we wanted it to be specifically about kitchens (which is what the Poll specified) then the title should reflect that.

Likewise, if it was intended to be about the IKEA Experience in general, then the Poll should reflect that as well. It *did* seem a bit unclear.

So, since the part people were actually voting on was specifically about kitchens I changed the thread title to match.

::shrug::

I try *really* hard to be objective about things like this, to me it's really about whether the point is valid or not. I do think that the post could probably have been phrased a bit more politely, as it kind of seemed to imply some sort of conspiracy, but that doesn't make the point untrue.
