How awesome is it that? I think we can all guess what you might be spending some that $5000 on eh? Though I suppose I could see a bit of a spree in the kids area too, your daughter did a wonderful job in the video.
It's like a story I remember from when I was growing up, about a family that was building an underground home and dug up enough opals to pretty much pay for the house. Except here the gem was more cute, and it's a kitchen instead of a house.

It also seems like there were some changes in the contest - does anyone know what prize that Jane and the other runner up got ? Anyone notice that the consolation contest now shows a prize of $1000 ? Originally it was one grand prize of $5000 and I think there were 5 $500 prizes ...
I'm just curious ... if you read the orginal contest rules it's out of synch with what's showing ...

Yeah, I noticed that the other day that they weren't doing what they said they were going to do. I wrote them an email asking what was going on, but they didn't respond (twice). I'm kind of bummed that the original votes didn't carry over. I'm not sure I can convince everyone to go and vote again. I kind of felt guilty asking the first time!
I voted too.... come on Kristen - just ask ... I'm sure your family and friends will vote again .... they just need you to ask.... it only takes a couple of minutes ... they'd be happy to help you win!!!

I believe the rules (still) state that after the $5000 Grand Prize was determined, the remaining 19 finalists would then be eligible to win one of the 5 $500 gift cards based the results of a second voting period. The contest indicates that the second period of voting is currently underway, and I was able to place my vote this morning.
I also took note of the $1000 prize on the homepage underneath the contest listing and wrote to Drew this morning with a request for clarification. I'm sure there was just a mix-up. I'll update this thread as soon as I get some more information.

re-submit your shycast vote in the IKEA consolation contest
something is wrong over at shycast ... I know I voted for kristen yesterday - but today she is showing as having 0 votes (yesterday after I voted there were 8 votes). Once you've voted you can't vote again. I just resubmitted my vote ... it looks like somehow they lost the votes that had already been submitted.
If you've voted in the consolation contest ... you need to go back and resubmit your vote....
