This time it's really almost done.

So for my second almost done posting, this time it's almost done, really it is. Other than what color to paint a wall or window treatments and of course the post to the island has to be painted, but thats 4 coats of primer and then 2 coats of top coat to make it really really smooth. It's been a long haul.... but fun cooking when friends come over, I cook they bring the wine.

Oh I still love this kitchen - you have done a fantastic job.

thanks
Deb

Re: This time it's really almost done.

Thank you all for your kind words..... you can all come over and cook up a storm. The outlet is from a company called Mockett. Baseboards are the same aluminum stock that is in between the cover panes on the island. I sanded the aluminum with 150 grit sandpaper to give it a brushed look, sort of stainless look. Lets see what can we cook? Beef Bourguignon, ah... beef stew while it's still a bit cool?

Re: Nice kitchen

Thanks for sharing the photos. That is a nice kitchen. One thing I didn't see was the exhaust fan for the cook top. Was it a downdraft that was integrated with the cook top?

The design and execution are superb! Very slick! But where is a hood?

Re: This time it's really almost done.

No hood in my kitchen... I purposely wanted an open "loft" look and a hood would have hindered that. My last hood in the old kitchen was used about 3 times per year if that. The temps in Souther Ca are pretty mild, so I can open the window and or back doors if cooking anything such as fish. Splatters do not reach the ceiling, if they did I'd have to say there is a problem with my cooking.

Re: This time it's really almost done.

I agree, an island hood does have a tendency to dominate the whole kitchen. I also heard they are very expensive.
