The hidden dishwasher is impressive. The kitchen would look cluttered if it were visible. I wouldn't do that on my budget (which is aimed more toward a $350 Kenmore dishwasher), and I've got a larger kitchen anyway.
Also, the solid countertop looks perfect. Anything else in that limited space would look fussy.
The Lee Valley corner units may be relevant to my plans.
I've been eyeing Linjär Blue (especially now that it's on sale) but may instead do custom oak handled by an excellent local contractor. Entirely different look, but the kitchen is of a size to handle it, and the house is a muzzy mix of European modern with reproduction historic lighting (Rejuvenation).
MiamiBeach, that looks FANTASTIC! You have put a tremendous amount of work into this kitchen, and it has really paid off. Congratulations! Thanks so much for sharing the pics!
Not to mention that the Dioder lighting appears very handsome. I've wondered about the very blue-ish light that comes from so many LEDs.
The ceiling lighting looks like a great updated version of the 1980s ceiling fluorescent lighting I'm getting rid of (with the associated 7' ceiling). I need to look into something similar for the new 8' ceiling!
And yes, I'll check a great local tile company to see whether glass tiling might be economically feasible. I doubt it. The stuff can be enchanting. The first time I noticed it was at Eltham Palace, a 1920s art deco mansion attached to an Elizabethan great hall in London. The sun was shining into one of the master bathrooms, making some rather large blueish tiles glow. It was the sort of house that would make a Miamian happy. By the way, that house regularly pops up in British movies such as "Bright Young Things".

Wow!!! MiamiBeach, I'll have to read you blog from start to finish. The $350 I was thinking of was list price for a Kenmore dishwasher that Consumer Reports considered a Best Buy.
I missed a good excuse to drive down to Miami this weekend. The Montgomery Botanical Center on Old Cutler Road offered walking tours of their amazing palm and cycad collection.

I love all of the hidden/clever storage and I still think the counter/backsplash combination was inspired. The blue is a bit overwhelming to me personally but if I could live with it, it would be in a gorgeous place like yours! Congratulations!
