not yet sorted or descripted, but here are some pictures of the kitchen. there is actually more prog than this but i haven't unloaded the camera yet. some things to note, a 31.5"(c-tech) sink fit easily in the 30" cab, and the pantry was easy to reconfigure with a couple of drawers (it looks better now than in the pic). the bar height end of the island was tricky, i had to put 2 12x39" wall cabs back to back to make 12x39x24 deep mini pantry... i've got to say it's not fun anymore. i'll be happy when it's over.

I wish I had seen your note about the 30" sink base before I bought the 36" one. I had been looking for the biggest sink I could fit in one and finally gave up and just got the bigger sink base. I haven't bought one yet but am looking at a model similar to yours but with a total width of 35 inches. That way I make the most of the space I gave up for the sink base.

I like your choice of AMB and Lansa. We are doing the same.

the thing to remember with engineered stone installations is that they typically use sheet plywood as a base under the stone, so they just sandwich the sink between the two. 3/4" plywood can hold alot on it's own. as long as there is a cabinet edge somewhere near the sink, it's probably fine. my sink was 31.5 overall and 29.5 from sink wall to sink wall. the lip of the sink basically sits on top of the two filler pieces on each side, even though the weight is really supported by the plywood.

thanks for the lansa amb comment. we thought it fit well with our house style (though i think most things from ikea do) we have a 50's Cliff May rancho that lends itself well...

Gorgeous houses. We don't see much of that in Maryland. I'm in a contemporary but not as much open space. Some day my sister will be buying in the LA area. I'll send her the link. Long Beach is too far for her husband's work but she'd appreciate the style.

I'm thinking granite for our counters. I wonder if there are special concerns for choosing a sink for that?

just ask the ct installers. i think any type of stone that is 3/4" "typically" get the plywood and would work the same. some times though, people get the thicker slabs in which case it's not needed.

Wow, Cory, that is really looking good. I do hope you plan to re-vamp the photos and add some descriptives so we get a good feel for what we're looking at. You've done a lot of mod/custom work and having a bit more info will help those who might want to do something similar.

I noticed ropelights inside a cabinet. What are you planning to do with those?

Also, that was an excellent solution for the 49" corner base lazy susan hinge. After your mod, exactly what is the clearance from the floor of the cabinet to the bottom of the lowest lazy susan?

As for the 'we'll be glad when it's over' feeling, I'm with you on that We're nearing the end also, and we'll be happy to have our ground floor back to normal.

the rope lights go inside of the wall corner unit at the end of the island. i turned that into a liquor cabinet, so the ropes "backlight" the bottles. i'll try to get a picture in there this week and try to organize the rest.

i think the susan is only about an inch or two from the floor of the cabinet, it's as low as it will go, with or without the hingers there.

That must look really good. Yet another creative idea from an IKEA fan...
