Here some pictures of our finished Kalsebo kitchen. We love it!!!

We have Kona Beige SIlestone as the countertops. And the oven in the cabinet is actually the Sharp Drawer Microwave.

Beautiful kitchen, congratulations!

The colour combinations look amazing, I especially like the colour of your countertops. And the layout is great too, you have a very original island. Did you design the kitchen yourself or did you get professional help?

Whatever the case, the result is absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy yournew kitchen!

It's absolutely beautiful!! Ok.......I hope you don't mind because I have sooooo many questions:

1. So that I can get an idea of how this would look in my kitchen, what are the dimensions of your room? As much as I love the idea of an island, I think your kitchen is much bigger than mine.

2. Specifically, what are the dimensions of your island and the space between the perimeter cabinets and the island? This might give me a good idea of my space.

3. Is thata wine frig.?

4. What is the size of the Sharp Microwave drawer, and about how much do they cost? What size cabinet did you put it in?

5.What hood did you end up using?

Makes me just want to rip my kitchen out now. Yours is truly magnifico!!

Laurie

Love the kitchen -- it is just gorgeous. Add some questions to the list for me:

Tell me about your slide-in stove. Who made it and how has it been working?

We are looking at Silestone counters as well, how did the install go and what do you think of them so far?

Thanks. No help, used the IKEA kitchen designer (which leaves A LOT to be desired).

1. So that I can get an idea of how this would look in my kitchen, what are the dimensions of your room? As much as I love the idea of an island, I think your kitchen is much bigger than mine.

The kitchen area of the room measures about 15' w x 12'l

2. Specifically, what are the dimensions of your island and the space between the perimeter cabinets and the island? This might give me a good idea of my space.

The island is 54" (2 cabinets back to back witha sheet of MDF to stablize it) x 83" There is 34" between the end of the island and the fridge and 42" where the range is and 50" between the side where the mini fridge is and the desk area.

3. Is thata wine frig.?

It's a beverage frigde by U-Line. We don't drink a lot of wine but wanted space for beer/soda/kid drinks. It hold 10 bottles of wine on the top.

4. What is the size of the Sharp Microwave drawer, and about how much do they cost? What size cabinet did you put it in?

I'm not sure how big the drawer is but it fits in a 30" cabinet. We needed to reinforce the cabiniet with MDF to make a sturdy enough shelf for it to sit on. It cost about $700 but that was about a year ago when it was brand new.

5.What hood did you end up using?

The hood is a Futuro http://www.futurofuturo.com/We actually bought it off ebay from a licensed dealer.

Tell me about your slide-in stove. Who made it and how has it been working?

It's a Dacor dual fuel stove. I love it. We bought it about 3 years ago, before we did the kitchen. I love that it looks like a cook top but is a slide in.

We are looking at Silestone counters as well, how did the install go and what do you think of them so far.

I love the Silestone. We ordered them through Home Depot Expo. We waited about 2-3 weeks for them to come in. The install took about4 hours, including the cutting out of the holes for the faucet, hot/cold water and soap dispenser. Home Depot contracts out to another company, which were fantastic, our island was just on the edge of what you could cut out of one piece. The overhang is slightly less than the rest of the kitchen (you wouldn't be able to notice) because the installer wanted to make sure it they didn't have to seam it. It did take 5 guys to carry it in.We went with the demi bull nose edge (it was free that month, so hey why not) andI like the corner seam placement much better than friends who have a squared edge. We had some thick slabs of steel fabricated to fit under the overhangs on the bar and the desk. Silestone can withstand a unsupported overhange of about 18" but we have teenagers (and soon to be teenagers) and didn't want one hopping up on the counter and cracking it.
