I LOVE it! Very unique space. Terrific stove. Great colors and a mix of cabinet doors. Especially love those Applad blue doors. Do you have any close-ups of your formica? Congrats!

The stove is actually a Wedgewood which is out of California but very close in style to the O'K & M.

Is there a commandment: "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's stove"? If there is, I just sinned big time!

Thumbs up

Love the kitchen.

Thanks for the close up of the countertop. I love the boomerang.

Mixing the cabinet styles looks great. You're so creative!

How much was that stove? If you don't mind me asking... my husband looked over my shoulder and said "whao, cool stove".. translation... "when we redo our kitchen we'll have to get one of those".

Jenn - That's fantastic! You really are creative - I admire the self-confidence it takes to mix door styles like that (something many of us are afraid to do). It creates such a unique and artistic look!

Wedgewood Stove price vs. cost

Jennoconn's DH here..

The stove cost $1,600, found online in an antique stove classified ad site. The stove was in Virginia, and I took a weekend to drive from Atlanta to outside DC to fetch it (a knob fell off on the drive home). We spent another $400 or so on parts and rebuilt components (it's a bit like owning a car from 1948: easy to work on, but that's cause you need to). So the stove cost us about $2,000 total.

Buying a used Wedgewood or Western Holly is easy in California (they were built there). Buying a rebuilt one is expensive (at least twice as much), but you get one with a warranty and all working parts. Not quite the "go into store, buy stove, get stove, cook" situation, but that goes with the "hey, let's put our kitchen together by ourselves" philosophy.

Google "Antique gas stove" and you'll find all the major online sites, as well as occassional Ebay and Craigslist sales for some stoves. One thing to watch out for is buying a stove that matches your type of gas (LP or Natural). If you switch supplies the stove will need to be adjusted (ours did). Another thing to remember is that one product of combustion is water vapor, and poorly ventilated stoves would get very damp, and they rust just like an antique car (mostly in places you can't see), so buyer beware. And lastly, the suckers are HEAVY. I pretty much have to take the thing half apart just to move it.

But it kicks out gobs of flame, has amazing simmering capacity, holds heat evenly in the oven, has acres of working space, a working griddle, and makes the kitchen design work.
