I love the petite scale of the SOLSTA OLARP but the upholstery was just too plain for the room. I also wanted washable covers but did not want a loose fitting slip cover. Here's the result of a sewing project:
I stapled hook-side velcro strips in the bottom to accept the loop-side sewn into the cover:
To keep the inside back taught, I cut a thin rigid board (1/8 inch Sintra PVC foam board) which is also fastened by velcro. The seat cushion was separated from the chair.
A similar technique was used on this old ELNE sofa bed (with mods on the side cushions):
I'm really happy with the customized result, looks like the pieces were reupholstered. The fabric covers are all removable and washable
