Other than some final touches and some painting, we're done! Literally couldn't have done it without this forum. It took about 8 months (yikes) to finish. We started as soon as we moved in, and completely from scratch - went to the studs, wall and ceiling. Except for the electrical, and install on the Fisher Paykel, everything was 100% DIY.
Bathroom tile as countertop, closet pantry, soffits, doors falling off hinges, ancient mismatched appliances - Here are the awful before pics (avert your eyes if you're sensitive):
Wow! That looks fantastic. The more I see Tidaholm - the more I like it. The backsplash is beautiful. And are those Tulip chairs and a Saarinen table? So jealous...
Give yourself a pat on the back and put your dogs up for a while - you've earned a well deserved break.
Very Nice!!! The before and afters are very dramatic ... You've done a super job and deserve to kick back for awhile and enjoy the work you did. You've got to be thrilled and so proud of how well it turned out.

I love the little tongue-in-cheek nod to the old backsplash and countertop in the new tiny mosaic...that must make you giggle every time you think of it!
This is a terrific remodel. It appeals to my modern sensibility but the Tidaholm oak works great for many styles.
Please keep us posted on your dishwasher drawers. I've lusted after these drawers myself but I've heard unpleasant things about the repair record. Will you still love them a year from now?

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! We are off to vacation later this week to refuel, then it's time to move onto the rest of the house (built in 1970, hasn't been touched since).
On the dishdrawers - I got it on clearance for a ridiculously good price, and the store gave us a 5 yr extended warranty. I also heard about the repairs, so I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed. The installer said that because it is so different, a lot of the problems associated with them come from improper install. I think they are really cool so far. In a two-person household, it is great to be able to run small loads. Sometimes it can be annoying that certain large items can't fit in the drawers that would fit in a traditional dishwasher.
