What are your wall colours? I especially love that orange/beige/brown combination with the white trim! We're on day 5 of a similar remodel (Adel MB/tigerwood floors/same pendant lights above island) and we need to consider paint now. And a backsplash. Are you doing one?
Speaking of baseboard, I once saw a home with rather ornate old world style white painted baseboards, the really thick ones made by craftsmen that you can't find anywhere anymore. The interior was very modern, so what the designer did was to keep the baseboards and respect them, but added about a 1/2 inch thick line of black directly above them. It was fabulous, gave a modern edge while highlighting the molding almost like art.
The paint colors we picked out at Lowe's... I'll get the swatches.
The baseboard is just primed right now and set in place, but we're planning on painting it to match the wall colors. I'm not sure, though - I sort of like it all white. If nothing else, it's staying white in the beige hallway (and obviously on the white walls).
I keep picking up Hallarum from As-Is every time I go. This time netted 2 base cover panels and 1 corner cabinet cover panel... Not sure what we're going to do with them yet, but they may come in handy
We also picked up another ton of stuff, including a bunch of the soft-close drawer attachments - THESE KICK BUTT!!! I have to pick up another 11 sets to do all of the drawers, but they're SOOO worth it, especially on the pantry cabinet.
I think I'll probably end up doing the 1 hinge/door deal with the Blum brand hinge/damper combo. We have 17 doors to dampen. I don't like the IKEA option and since the cabinets are in place already, the dowel/drilling/in-frame option isn't too appealing.
We also found the dog food container (as some folks had mentioned finding) to use in our slide-out trash/recycling cabinet. This was at Lowe's, as well.
I trimmed my Galant desk to match the angle of the wall in my office. Here we used a rounded-end frame piece, since the extension frame piece would have gone the full length of the original extension. My measurements were off, so it's a TAD shorter than anticipated (measure once, cut twice?) I also have to clean up the edge - the only sharp blade I had for the circular saw was a 40-tooth - not a smooth cutter.
We also picked up the carcass for the niche cabinet and hung that on the wall with excess cabinet rail we had from the kitchen. The doors will be about a week, but we got the black glass Rubrik for that. It's going to need a top... Not sure yet, but I may be picking up the brushes to do another painting (we've got 2 tables I've painted in modern master styles - one Miró, one Mondrian... maybe Klee this time around, for a challenge).
My wife unpacked the kitchen and stocked the shelves and we spent our first night at the place since closing at the end of September.
Brown - Burnt Tile, 6011-2 (American Tradition)
White - Anthem White, 7006-24 (American Tradition)
Beige - Almond Oil, EB46-4 (Signature/Eddie Bauer Home)
Gold - Fancy Suede, 3010-5 (American Tradition)
Green - New Avacado, 6007-6 (American Tradition)
Now, for the long angled wall in my office I'm considering a deep red... That sure would be a lot of colors visible from one spot (the front door, for example!). You'd be able to see every color listed above AND the red from the kitchen, living room, front door, etc... Then again, who cares!?
AMAZING! Everything looks wonderful - just wonderful! I love the slate floors, the Hallarum, the wood floors...it all comes together so nicely. Great work!
btw? we just painted our half bath Fancy Suede - its a nice color!
Thanks, Emily! We're very happy with the Fancy Suede color. I can't wait to get the painting on that wall (done by my wife's late father, a fine art painter and professor).
Here's another little update... with VIDEO! I'm just so tickled by these soft-closer drawer bits that I had to video a few of the different applications - they're on all of the drawers now and handle different loads well.
And some pics... Painted the french doors, painted the baseboards, put together my office shelving unit... there's a story about that one... It was a 2-box product and when we got it home yesterday, the large box contained BIRCH colored panels, not cherry! Upon returning it today, they said "that's definitely a huge mistake, this color has been discontinued for a couple of YEARS now!" So there you go.
baseboards disappearing and the floating cabinet with glass shelves
the trash pullout, with dog food container fitting well
looking forward in my office
are there brown baseboards there??
my new shelving unit
the microwave, in the island, now with 153° hinges and a full-extension pullout drawer for pots and pans
That's it for now. Countertop on the island WILL have a seam But it will also be here soon!
How fun! I loved the videos. Since I'll be living without drawer fronts for awhile, it's nice to see the pots & pans drawer working so well without one.
