I especially love the lighting and the ceiling. I think the lighting and ceiling really showcase the rest of the kitchen.
What granite did you use? It is really just stunning on the island.
So sorry, I have not logged in for quite a while, so my answer might be irrelevant at this point. My granite I think was cashmere gold. I went to the stoneyard, pick out the slab I wanted and had them tape off the section exactly how I wanted them to cut it. Love the look of marble but I am aware its unwise to use it in the kitchen (very porous). I wanted a peice of granite that resembles marble as much as possible.
If my memory serves, Kashmir Gold granite is mostly fairly nondescript. Spotting a slab with that beautiful pattern and exploiting it for the island is an accomplishment. Nice to see the kitchen once again.
When Solar Beech first came out, I think I kinda had a love/hate response toward it. I have to say after coming across your project blog today, that it is absolutely stunning! I love the white glass doors with it. The beech really warms up the contemporary style. Very nicely done.
Can you tell us if the cabinets get messed easily up due to lack of handles-- are they pretty tough? Also, how do you match the grains if that is possible? Thanks!
Hi Pinks, great Kitchen!!! I'm a Solar fan as well and am currently in the process of installing it in our kitchen. However, I ran into a slight issue with the Micro/Oven 80" high cabinet. I noticed that you have the same cabinet in your pics. After installing the bottom drawer, I noticed that the drawer front does not cover all the way to the bottom of the cabinet. I called IKEA and they told me that what they do with is to flip the drawer around and it will cover the bottom. I literally flipped when I hear that. I am not about to compromise the entire look of my kitchen by having the only bottom drawer with the integrated handle below.
I am wondering if you have the same issue with your cabinet. My drawer is approx 6 x 30 inches.
