house is still under construction. my wife and i designed the house. i describe it as warm,modern, and somewhat minimalist. its 3 stories including the full walkout basement. total sq ft around 3700. 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, 2 half baths. first floor is completely open, only walls are for the bathroom. middle floor will have metal runner open staircase with stainless steel for railings, handrail being wood. we are having hickory trees, from the site, cut into lumber for 4" thick slab steps.
we will be finalizing ikea cabinet layout for kitchen (nexus beach), and 3 bathrooms very soon. i will also be using ikea closets in the master bedroom (8 units) and 2nd bedroom (1 or 2 units)

kitchen - 20' wall section with 13'x50" island near some big windows. nexus birch will be used for everything.
all appliances will be in the island - ge profile induction with downdraft, oven,dish washer. possibly sharp drawer microwave. large kohler D shaped single basin stainless sink.
the house is designed so that the wall cabinets appear built into the wall along with stand alone electrolux full freezer and full refrig. combo

Thanks! we were a little worried at first doing modern but with the framing done and windows going in we are very excited. my wife and i are not architects/designers so it was daunting to design it ourselves.
3-4 months until we move in. weather has been a pain. windows are slowing it down. they are very heavy and most are fixed pane. builders usually install windows from the inside (of the house) by opening the window. they are going to build the back deck first use as scaffolding to install the windows.
kitchen island changed up - we wanted a big island all one level. no way to do it and meet codes. since it has the sink/cook top i am required to have several electrical receptacles above the counter. can not be below counter height or flush mount. i can not model what it would be like in ikea 3d planner.
if you take the island in this picture , make it fit in the ikea model below where theres no counter - so that its creates a backsplash on the ikea model (taller/narrower). both will have granite tops and the sides to the floor. black lower section (with appliances) brown upper bar section. this is also how the outside of the house is.
windows in - still waiting for doors. my parents came by to check out progress.
not much visuals happening. rough plumbing/electrical/hvac going in. all windows in. still waiting for right size front/rear door. siding going up soon
NOTE: if you ever do an open floor plan ---> plan for light switches! this has been a big pain. especially in the kitchen area.
metal roof is on! edging work being finished up this afternoon. siding should be on next week after front/rear doors show up on wednesday.

cali checking out her future home. one big reason the bottom panel is 3' tall - cali likes to look out the windows. at my parents the windows are 20" off the floor and have cali prints on the sills.
