Today's little project:
Using some of the offcuts from the Numerar oak worktop I've made some floating shelves to go by the door. The wall jogs in about 5 inches here so I cut two shelves to that depth.
The brackets were very simple ones off eBay - just a 12mm diameter rod and two screw holes:

It was quite a time consuming job drilling out the holes in the wood - I don't have a drill press so it was a case of lining up the holes by eye.

Then I had to chisel out a recess for the back of the brackets.
The brackets are quite a close fit in the wood so just a squirt of gap-filling adhesive before final fitting makes them nice and solid. I found some old Kilner jars in the loft which will be a perfect fit for the shelves and hold flour, pasta etc - one is in the
