I know I wouldn't have won the contest , but I wanted to post these here for the Amazing Transformation when it comes:
Admittedly, in these shots the kitchen is in full "I don't give a rip, I'm getting a new kitchen!" mode (there was a time I tried to make the best of it)
Don't underestimate yourself, you could be a contender! That is some ugliness. I love the lines of the hood paired with the bold hinges. And, whoa...that pink formica and the (what is that color....olive?puce? puke? ahh....wait, I know. It's what
DH
and I refer to asbaby$#!% green!) flooring. What was it you said about the floor and the counter being the same color/material sort of brings it all together? I knew you had some good taste, but wow. I had no idea.
I kid you not. Save these for the next contest. Lisa1's out now that she's won one...you could be the next big winner! Need a 2005 Kitchen Catalog?

DH definition
DH usually means Dear Husband (or, pick your own adjective starting with D).
You didn't even comment on the loverly blue floral window treatments. I'm hurt.
Interestingly, aside from the stupid painted pantry (that area of stripes in the 5th picture) the room has good bones, I think. And goodness you saw what the pantry and half bath looked like before IKEA moved in.
The windows to the left of the chimney are going - they look into the garage, so I'm not losing any light byremoving them, and my dad is trying to convince me to splurge for replacement windows.
I'm still looking to get a couple more NG/propane quotes (or find somegas guythat will run a line for cash on a Saturday )
Thanks for posting those. It makes me feel better, despite the fact that your pics are during the demo! The hinges really steal the show. You may need to find a way to keep those!
Well, the windows that look into the garage (

#1)are going tonight and the drywaller and the carpenter are going to try to work in 2 part harmony. The electrician is coming this weekend. Next week I paint and next weekend my dad and I are installing the HEMSE laminate. Then the carpenter comes back to install the trim, I caulk and touch up and then the "kitchen stuff" goes in. I'm going to plumb myself (I hope) but I worry because I am moving the dishwasher over to the left of the sink.
I hope to be done with tradesmen by 8/30 and with the kitchen itself bySeptember 15(meaning all decor in and have the space be fully functional - FINISHED! - no punch list items left).
Anyone want to start a betting pool? Remember, it was just last weekend that I got the handles on my cabinets in the pantry and half bath
Other Lisa, I'm glad you feel better now!
As far as design, I decided to toss trends to the wind and skip the island. It really crowds the eating area and I can always go back to IKEA and get the cabs if I decide I can't live without one. I will make sure there will be electricity there if I change my mind.
My secret TJ's and Marshalls are here in the 'burg. I usually do pretty well because I don't seem to want the same thing as the other residents in town. In that bag is a cool vase you'll see featured in the kitchen as well as 3 silver apples destined for kitchen still life duties.
Wow. I'm already coming up on 2 months with a non functioning kitchen. Have I mentioned that I hate my electrician? Again, he's the cause for the work stop (over 5 weeks all to his credit!) *grrr*
I do have my flooring in house as well as my shelving (LACK and Grundtal).
BTW
, I stand corrected on the LACK. It holds 33lbs if anchored in studs; 11 if in drywall. I ordered all my appliances (except for the fridge) on Saturday. I pushed back my delivery until 10/15.
