Is is a bad idea to shop on June 30th?

We are doing our kitchen in August. We would like to shop before the prices go up, which sounds like it would happen after June 30th, but the 30th is the first weekday my husband can go (he teaches, and that's when his school year ends.) We will be shopping at the New Haven store. Do you think it will be very crowded, like on a weekend, because it's the last day for those prices?

Probably won't be crowded...only people like the 'Fans would even think about the date in terms of pricing. Have fun!

If we ordered on the 30th, and prices dropped, could we return and reorder?

Re: Is is a bad idea to shop on June 30th?

You could probably make it happen, but honestly, I would be very surprised if prices go down. Transport and manufacturing costs have increased in step with oil prices. Plus the $ is weaker against the Euro, so parts that come from Europe (a significant %) will require more $ to cover their Euro costs. Just my opinion of course, but there you have it.

Re: Is is a bad idea to shop on June 30th?

Orlando store sale (20-60% off) will run June 20-July 6.

The Washington Post reported recently that Ikea has opened its first furniture factory in the US, in Danville, Virginia. One reason is that shipping costs are rising rapidly.

OMG. I'm there!

Is it common for Ikea to have sales?

Why can't IKEA Elizabeth or Paramus have a sale. Color me jealous.

Re: Is is a bad idea to shop on June 30th?

Ikea has two sales a year ...one in the winter and one in the summer. I know that the Stoughton store has already had their summer sale, you should check the website to see if there is any info on any other stores.

Re: Is is a bad idea to shop on June 30th?

Two big sales a year ... but keep in mind that throughout the year, items get discontinued and discounted anyways.

Such doesn't mean that the entire store is on sale ... about the only times I've seen that is an anniversary, a special event, or if the store is closing or moving.

(When the City of Industry was closing and moving to Covina, they decided to just put the entire store on sale because it would cost them less to do that over moving everything the 12 miles or so.)

Do expect many prices to go up ... Carson already has their new breakfast signs at $1.99.
