If it says "not available" on the IKEA website for a certain cabinet in a certain finish, how likely is it that it
1. will become available within the next few weeks,
2. will be available in a store?
If neither is very likely, how big are the chances of being able to buy that cabinet at all?

It is a rare that a cabinet is not available...this would only happen for a short time.

Just my .02 but my Ikea does not stock a lot of doors - I have to order the doors and they come in one to two weeks.

I would say that it is definately due to your door selection. The cabinet frame and interior parts have been in stock every time I have been to the Tempe store. Or if you are web shopping try looking at just frames or drawers and you'll see they are available. For the retail locations II think only the most common or best selling styles for that particular market are in stock and for me...Abstrakt red is not one of them!

There are two seperate components to consider: the cabinet frames/drawers/hardware - each store usually has all these in stock, and the doors/panels/etc. - stores generally carry the seven - ten most popular as stock items, the rest are available by special order from the regional warehouse (two week delivery).
