Our 2.5yo daughter has recently outgrown her crib. When we visited our local IKEA (Burbank), she walked right over to a pink MAMMUT bed, climbed in, and put her head on the pillow, so we figured it was the one for us. But they were out of stock. Argh.
Hearing this, the grandparents bought one in Emeryville and brought it down as a gift. Yaay!
Alas, the footboard has a large hole in it!

Having broken down the crib in anticipation of the bed we assembled it anyhow and the girl is sleeping happily, tonight her first night in the bed. But I have been reading the IKEA website and some IKEAFANS posts here and I'm starting to despair of our ability to get (return/exchange, purchase, or otherwise) a replacement footboard for this bed; the return policies seem to require the original store and receipt (neither of which are within a thousand miles).
Any advice? Am I hexed (as it were)?
