Adopt an IKEA Store Directory Page

So, you want to adopt an IKEA Store Directory page? Yay!

It's not hard to do - just a few quick steps and you'll have ownership of the IKEA Store Directory page of your choosing.

Log in again
For extra added security, you'll have to log in once again when you get to IKEA Stores - Locations, Hours, Parking, Products, Restaurant and More! - IKEA Fans Directory.

Claim your listing
After you log in, navigate to the page for the IKEA store you wish to adopt. Use the map, or keywords to search for your store by name. At the bottom of the listing, click on Claim Listing.

Add a comment, like, "I want to adopt IKEA Woodbridge !", then type the letters and numbers you see in the security code in the box and click Submit.

Once you've done that, we'll have to approve it (more security). Feel free to PM one of us to make sure we see it and get you going right away.
Go to My Listings
Once it's approved, you can get to your directory account by clicking on My Account on the narrow horizontal blue nav bar, and then by clicking on My Listings in the IKEA Fans directory menu in the left hand menu. Or, go here: My Account - IKEA Fans Directory

You'll land on a page that looks similar to this:

Any listings you've been approved for will be listed and you can see your options - Edit, Images, Documents, etc.

Edit your Listing
Click on Edit and you'll see a page similar to this:

Now, don't panic!

It's long, but most of it is already filled in, and you'll just be updating information if it changes, or adding new stuff. Anything can be fixed, so don't be afraid.

Add more info
  • You can use this link: IKEAWorldMap and the official IKEA.com page for the store to find information to update your listing and keep it current.
  • You can even post links to information in the forums about your store! Just add that information in the Description area.
  • Try to leave the 'default text' that provides a link for others to submit information intact - any information that comes in for your store will be forwarded to you to update.
  • Be consistent in entering your data. Follow the following formatting rules:
    • Numbers should be separated like this: 1,000,000.00 or 1,000.00 or 1,000
    • Percentages should be expressed like this: 8.75%
    • Dates should be entered in this format: May 15, 2009 (IKEA's site uses 15-5-2009)
    • Phone numbers should be entered in this format: (626) 732-4532 or the correct format for that country.
    • Street addresses should be entered in this format: 848 South Barranca Avenue
    • City Name should NOT include a comma after it
    • The state and country should be selected from the drop down, not typed in a field

Add other stuff
If you would like to add other things, like upload the store map, or link to the latest sale page, you can do that through the icon links in the Manage column on your My Listings page.

Need a hand?
If you need a hand with anything, let me know - I'd be happy to walk you through it! Just PM me

Thanks again for adopting a store!

Susan

I've been blogged!
Re: Adopt an IKEA Store Directory Page

New Haven 's page has been updated. I've still got some blank spots, but I'll fill 'em in.

Next on my list will be Stoughton ; but I have to drive up there again in order to ensure my accuracy.

Re: Adopt an IKEA Store Directory Page

Excellent! Thank you, Bruce! Anyone else want to adopt a page? It doesn't require a lot, but if you are really into it, you can add sales flyers, etc. when events come up.
