I just wanted to let everyone know that I ordered and received my kitchen this week. I had a miserable failed attempt on Tuesday with a less than helpful Ikean. However, that gave me the opportunity to grab one of their order forms. So, we returned Wednesday evening armed with plenty of print outs of our plan and the order form pre-filled in. We ended up with Juan (I highly recommend him) and later Bob showed up to give Juan a hand. I gave our order form to Juan and he entered it all while I shopped around. I returned when he was done and he had already set the order up as a draft and explained that the draft would also help with the cabinet assembly since it had all the pieces grouped for each cabinet. He gave us an estimate on the home delivery and when everything looked good, he created our order. We dashed to the checkout to pay and then we browsed around for an hour.

After the hour had passed I went to the home delivery counter and met with Tyra (I think), who had already double checked our order (10 carts worth of items, weighing in at a whopping 3,350 lbs). She gave us the item sheet and we inventoried everything and then set up the delivery for the next day. Well, the delivery guys just got done unloading the shipment. I won't be able to go through it for a day or so, but right now I'm thoroughly impressed and pleased.

The time to purchase a kitchen at that store seems to be weekday evenings. We got there around 5:30 and by the time we were heading home it was a bit after 8pm. Definitely try to place your order with Juan or Bob. Go prepared. If you can have the order form filled out ahead of time it really makes things go much faster.

Hello! Glad to hear you had such a satisfying ordering experience. Thanks for the tips too. Are you installing the kitchen yourselves or do you have a contractor?

Yeah - sounds like you had a very positive ordering experience. That's wonderful. Having the order form before you go to the store to order really helps!! If you still have a copy can you scan and post here - or worst case FAX it to me (I'd PM you my FAX number .. I receive FAXes softcopy) so we can add the order form to the Round Rock info in the IKEAPEDIA here.
Also - if you could add your recommendations as comments to the store entry that would be great. Just select the Round Rock entry and then the link to the store directory entry in the popup and it will take you to the entry in the IKEAPedia - where you can send comments to be included in the directory entry - that will help others in the future.

Gloria - We are doing the installation ourselves. We had our first installation day today and it went really well. We had a couple of volunteer helpers, so altogether we had 4 people working. We got almost all of the cabinet carcasses built and even managed to get the island installed.

Doreen - I still have some copies of the order form. I'll see about getting one scanned so it can be added to the site. I'll also check out the links so I can add my recommendations.

Overall, everyone was very impressed with the Ikea cabinets. The drawer dampers were a big hit! So far things have gone smoothly. I'm hoping that our next build day will go just as well.
