IKEA missed two Hallarum 15" x 64" door fronts from our order and have now discontinued the line just in the midst of our kitchen installation!!! Does anyone know where we can get these parts?
I don't know if its true but I have read here that due to child labor law violations, Ikea stopped production/purchasing of Hallarum. I also read that Ikea will supply customers like you with another style of doors. We need one door for a wall cabinet to finish our kitchen, a 18 by 39 inch door. Do you have one ?
We also have an extra 18x24 door.
Thanks
The Hallarum line has not been discontinued. The production of Hallarum in at least one production facility has been halted - either due to violations of child labor standards set by IKEA or due to quality issues. We've heard both versions and noone seems to know which is the case. From what I understand, production continues at at least one facility, but as you can imagine, there will be some gaps in the supply line until another manufacturing company that meets standards can be brought up to speed. production-wise.
That doesn't help you, however. If you can tell us where you are, it might be easier to help you find what you need. I know there have been a few offers of doors and/or panels from folks who have extras, or who started a project, but then didn't complete it...different reasons. Worst case scenario, you can get a different door style for those doors temporarily, and then replace them (super easy to do) when the Hallarum is back in the stores. IKEA has stated that they will do what they can to make it right.
I have one 15" x 64" pantry door in Hallarum. Part no. 000.604.09.
I purchased this before it was discontinued. We decided to go with Nexus Brown Black instead (still waiting). Anyway, I just discovered this panel. I have not opened the box yet.
I am in the San Francisco bay area. Let me know if you are interested.
I too, was also in the middle of a Hallarum kitchen redo when they quit selling that style and I couldn't get one back ordered door. It was part of a tall pantry, so they sent an Avsikt to replace the entire thing. Now I have a 24" x 60" Hallarum that I don't need. I had luck modifying a door to make it smaller by cutting it down on a table saw with a fine tooth blade, then putting an edge band of mahogany on it. There was a little chipping, but I remedied that with a stain pen. The hinges are what you will need to consider, though. They won't line up right, and unless you feel like trying to re-do the mortises, it will be a problem to cut this one down for smaller cabinets.
Hey Sarah - welcome to the forums from a fellow Washingtonian! Thanks for posting your Hallarum piece, as you never know who might be waiting for a bit.
We love to see pictures, so if your part-Hallarum kitchen is on film, please share!
I was at ikea last night replacing a deep drawer for a shallow one, when I asked the (very helpful) ikean about the state of Hallarum and she said it was discontinued because tons of ppl were bringing back the doors because the laminate was falling/peeling off. Ikea will replace all the doors/side panels etc or give credit towards a more expensive panel. She also mentioned that I could bring it back within the 10 year warranty.
