Drawer Box Disassembly (Getting the drawer front OFF)

Likewise - a million thanks for this tip! It's so easy when you know how! Why on earth don't IKEA put this on their assembly instructions??? It would save so much angst...

Thanks a ton... this trick just proved the value of the internet to my cabinet maker father-in-law (who was a little touchy about putting it on backwards!).

In a deep drawer, there are the rods also clicked into the back of the drawer. Any suggestions for getting those off? Thanks!

Actually, forget that question...I worked them off with two screwdrivers, but now the question is how to get the rods out of the drawer front...they're in there tighly, but I'm sure if I pull hard enough I'll impale myself. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Just reverse the way that rod was installed - bend it back at 90 degrees. This "collapses" the insert so it can pull back out.

All that frustration, fixed by a few photos :-).

This is the greatest article I have ever found on the internet. It took me forever to craft a google search to find it though. Now I can use my drill press for the handle holes on the drawer faces.

Too bad I glued in the rods on the deep drawers with gorilla glue though...

I just spent $4500 on cabinets that are engineered very well but have very poor instructions. Why do i have to spend an hour joining a "fan club" in order to obtain basic information about these cabinets? The information about how to disengage a drawer front should be in the printed assembly instructions....if not there, I should be able to google the answer without going through another ridiculous IKEA maze. Because we live hundreds of miles from the nearest IKEA, it took us six weeks and a lot of negotiation merely to ensure that the cabinets we wanted would be available for purchase when we made our journey to the store. IKEA MAY HAVE GREAT PRODUCT, BUT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE CAN ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS BUREAUCRATIC IN A WAY THAT CITIZENS WOULD NOT TOLERATE OF THEIR GOVERNMENT. IT WAS ONLY BECAUSE WE FINALLY FOUND INDIVIDUALS THAT WERE WILLING TO STRETCH THE RULES THAT WE WERE ABLE OT MAKE OUR PURCHASE.
