It's two days before IKEA opens in Sunrise, and the fans are getting restless. Some customers are lining up early to get a free chair.

What's your plan, MiamiBeach? Gonna wait it out a couple weeks or are you going in sooner? If you go in, please take pictures. Will it be like a rock concert? Or waiting for a Cabbage Patch doll?

P.S. Did you end up installing all your 12" drawers? A couple months back you weren't sure if you were going to use everything. If you've got any 12" drawers left over, I'd gladly buy one.
P.P.S. Regarding getting replacement doors before Linjar is discontinued. In my previous IKEA kitchen, the doors under the kitchen sink got the most wear (garbage, moisture, scratches). Would you consider keeping a couple of the hardest working pieces in reserve? You'll know better once you're really working in that kitchen...

The plan right now is to go to IKEA Sunrise with a friend early on Thursday morning. Hopefully won't be as crazy as opening day, and we definitely don't want to be near the place on the weekend.
It looks like I will have a lot of 12" drawers left over. One full box of 3 (1 deep + 2 shallow) and maybe as many as 4-6 of the shallow 12" still in their individual packages (I used only the bottom deep drawers for a bathroom sink vanity base pull-out). Do you only need 1 shallow?
Regarding the Linjar doors, you're probably right, I may want to buy replacements for the sink doors, I just wish I had more of the same size door, it seems like my order was just 1 or 2 of each door size! Hopefully in a couple of months I will have a better idea of what to buy, maybe I'll get lucky with the markdowns or "as-is". I just don't know how a non-stocked item like Linjar will show up discounted, right now, the smallest full size door (12"x30") is still over $100!
I'm looking for shallow drawers (not the deep ones) that are the full-length of a base cabinet.
If you've got extras, I'll buy two shallow drawers. When you have time, can you figure out the cost and shipping to 53706? I can pay via PayPal. You can PM me with details and I'll give my mailing address.
Since Linjar blue is to be discontinued, I'd wait until then to order spares.
Here at Covina, the pieces do show up from time to time; typically customer ordered and returned, or display arrangements.

I'm about three miles east of the store, and as eager as I am for the opening, I'm dreading the traffic chaos. My plan is to wait a few weeks and go early on a weekday. I'm very patient...
"They also took note of the store opening in Tempe, Ariz. During that 2004 opening, traffic jams on the highway caused off-ramp closures, and dozens of people parked their vehicles on the freeway and jumped the fence to get to the store."
I recall when the old City of Industry store was closing and they just discounted the whole store because it was cheaper than moving the inventory! Folks were parked over a half mile away, as even the adjacent 10-screen theater and Sam's Club parking lots got filled. The old store was later turned into a Kost Mart, subsequently demo-ed, and is now a Chrysler dealership.

I wish I could wait too, but I am in the middle of a remodel and need to get a couple of LINJAR cover panels, and one set of CAPITA legs. Then while I am there I am going to try to get a PAX Stordal set and MALM bed set for home delivery.

Many of the first customers who spent two days camping out were disappointed because they didn't get anywhere near the free giveaways that IKEA gave at other openings in years past.
''It was all incredibly disappointing. They said they were going to have free stuff and take care of people in line. They didn't do anything. We could have come up this morning and got a free chair,'' said No. 3 in line, Marisol Lopez, 26, of Pembroke Pines.
