Discuss 2008 summer kitchen sale July on IKEAFANS.com. We're Personalizing the IKEA Experience. 2008 summer kitchen sale July - Are you new to the IKEA concept? Want to find out what the excitement is all about? Do you have an IKEA Spotting to report? Read on!.
Tried to post this on the news and update site but it wouldn't let me on there. Anyhow, I called today about July 1 price change (Canada) and asked about honoring price differences if bought before. I really don't have time to go down to store (2.5 hours almost) before July 1 with my wife to confirm what we want. She has yet to see it in person like I have. We were going to do the order and if most things were there, pick most up in the pickup truck.
So, I called today the Vaughn store and the woman told me that yes, if price drops within 45 days of placing the order, I would get the difference back. However, she told me that in mid-July Ikea would be having a month-long kitchen sale on cabinet and doors. She could not tell me what the sale would be and did not know if I purchased my kitchen now, would I get a refund/credit later from the sale.
She said last time they had such a sale that the customer received a $100 Ikea gift certificate for every $1000 in kitchens purchased. No idea if this will be similar this time around but the 2008 kitchen event will start July 14.
we've decided to hold off because of this...partly because of the inconvenience of timing right now to make the trip in the next few days. So, if the price does go up, the kitchen sale event should at least come close to offsetting any increase. If the prices stay the same or goes down then we'll be ahead.
i wonder if this applies to just this specific store? or all? we're about to place our order but i'd totally wait if elizabeth or paramus were in on this sale!
the price matching varies store to store. Emeryville, for example, limits it to 14 days.
i don't know anything about the promotions coming up, but i've been rather disappointed by the last few, which all seemed to be tied to buying appliances.
I'd give your local store a call and ask. I'm in Ontario, Canada. Although I did not specifically ask, I would be 99.99% sure such a sale would be in all Ontario stores, if not all Canadian stores. It would be difficult for them to advertise otherwise. Since you are in the US I have no idea if they have such a sale...but take heart, even if we effectively save 10%, we are still paying 15-20% more than you for the same item.
I know different stores in Ontario put different in-store specials on that they do not specifically advertise but a significant sale like a kitchen event would certainly apply to all stores in the area.
we were told there will be one here in BC as well....we were told July 14th when we called to ask about the price guarantee.
We held off buying as well
does anyone know if the prices decreased here in Canada?
I was at Vaughn, Ontario Ikea yesterday. My wife had actually yet to see the kitchen in real life so obviously that was a must. Got some good ideas on pantry organization as well. Also, I think I will be doing a modification that a few of their displays used...i.e. building a 2x6 framed area above the fridge and behind the pantries to bring them out relatively flush with the fridge for a more built in look. Doesn't appear too difficult but a big difference in appearance.
While waiting for the one kitchen person who was on duty for almost 40 minutes, I noticed they were not discussing the upcoming sale at all. However, when it was finally my turn she didn't try to hide anything but said that although she wasn't sure at this point what it would be, but that it would likely be a $100 gift certificate per $1000 of kitchen purchases but even though appliance purchases would qualify, they were not necessary.
There did not seem to be any price changes that I saw...she didn't think there were any either.
ok lets hope then the prices are not going up...staying the same will be fine with me....
and that is the promo I am hoping for, since I am not buying any appliances through ikea.
