Re: Fab Finds in the AS-IS room

Great finds again....I went to Sacramento to visit family and couldn't pass an oportunity to check out the West Sacto as-is. I got lucky. 2 - linjar doors for $4 each, 2 - glass Vattern doors for $1 each, wall spot lamps for $5. They had a whole pallet of Poang footstool cushions in a brick color leather for $5 each. I just couldn't find a realistic use for me for them. They also happened to have a pallet left of Turquoise Rubrick, but it is the 15x80 and large side panel sections. I wouldn't be able to get them on the plane so they stayed.

The Malm birch display has been up for about a week. So I expect that they will break it down in about two weeks.

Re: Fab Finds in the AS-IS room

You're certainly having much better luck than me recently ... hardly anything has been added in the handyperson's corner since Monday.

Either that, or someone else has gotten to the all the new stuff before me ... which isn't suprising either.

They're still pulling out a lot of assembled stuff, though ... someone got this for just $150 this morning.

Re: Fab Finds in the AS-IS room

My group at work tells me they need to find a 12-step program for me for IKEA. ha ha ha. Plus I know employees by sight since I've been there so often. They wave or say hi. I find parts and pieces then assemble or modify as I need. Not necessarily the original design intent either. I mounted a birch MALM bedside table to the wall instead of the headboard (using wide L brackets that were originally for a stove insert ) and it makes for a nice dressing table when paired with a Hendricksdal chair I got cheap there too. A lot of PS Havet mattresses are coming back, not sure why, and they aren't really leaving as-is either.

Just an FYI...a lot of times for the returns, the boxes are trashed, so the back room folks "build it" and put it out. Stuff in the boxes usually is a forklift "oops" or discontinued.

Re: Fab Finds in the AS-IS room

I drove 185 mile (one way) on Saturday in my quest for a much needed 4' Numerar Bluegrey counter top. Stops in Burbank, Carson and Costa Mesa netted me zilch. But...oh my goodness...was I ever tempted by two pallets at Costa Mesa: There were 8 fully assembled drawers, including dividers, with Rubric SS fronts + 4 SS doors for only $40! I grabbed hold of those two pallets sooo fast and then reached for the handy paper 39" tape measurer Kindly provided by Ikea. Drats! the drawers were all 18" and 30" wide and the doors were 15" and 18". I don't have any cabinets those sizes.

Anyone in So. Cal who wants a bargain...they may still be there.

Re: Fab Finds in the AS-IS room

Ok hence the name i pretty musch love all things liatorp, and ektorp, found practically all my owned pices in AS IS. Can't wait for new store in Brooklyn, NY since I have to make the trek to either Newark or Long Island much to my husbands chagrin. Hey I'm doing him a favor by dragging him along since handyman he isnt, all he has to do is figure out how to get the already assembled items home. My long winded reason for this post however is during move broke the glass on my liatorp coffee table. Was told by a very helpful employee in Newark to keep checking back they may just be able to let me have the glass alone. Can any of you nice folks let me know if you ever come across a liatorp table in any of your as is finds in the New York/ New Jersey area. Also still on the hunt for the liatorp sofa table since I refuse to buy it full price. What can I say I've been spoiled by the As Is room.

Re: Fab Finds in the AS-IS room

Welcome.

At least here, they usually don't sell any unframed glass pieces in the AS-IS ... one may need to suck up to the employees a bit more for them to say yes.

That said, I passed up on a complete Hopen wardrobe cabinet (top/bottom/both sides/extra shelf) ... total price would've been less than $5, but it's Portland weather down here today, so me getting it home would've been poitless.

I did buy some stuff at full price, though!

Re: Fab Finds in the AS-IS room

Recently I saw the Norden dining table (the big one 100 x 220 or 266cm) and the Edefors dining table for about 1/3 less than normal, and also the Groland working table for 45% less. The last one I bought.

Re: Fab Finds in the AS-IS room

Yesterday, $30 bought ...

- 3L and 5L 365+ pots, plus a 13" 365+ fry pan.
- Kynck napkin holder
- A small pile of discontinued Numerar installation kits.
- All but two pieces to an Expedit tv unit, which combined with pieces previously purchased, now allows for at least one complete unit, perhaps even two.
- A pile of various Leksvik pieces that'll go into the pile of all the other antique stained pine pieces that I've amassed from time to time, which includes pieces from Hemnes, Leksvik, Markor, and Fagerland.

Still no Billy, though ...

I didn't buy anything, but the newly opened Sunrise, FL store has an AS-IS room that was just PACKED with stuff today, and more was being brought in as well.

Re: Fab Finds in the AS-IS room

Saturday, after being sent to IKEA for one more Trofast wardrobe unit for the mudroom, I found a discontinued brand new Fagelbo couch for 40% off. Also two Hanna Rund rugs at 50% off.
